Rebecca Moskal: What Does it Take to be a Good PR Girl?

Based in LA, Rebecca runs her own PR company and specializes in fine jewelry. We wanted to know more about her busy entrepreneurial life.

What does it take to be a good PR girl?

Understanding that editors are ALWAYS on a deadline, in a time crunch and receive countless pitches each day, my job is to make their jobs as easy as possible. When you send an initial pitch, be concise, accurate and content specific. Provide all of the information they need upfront, and be readily available for follow-ups on anything additional they request.

Why did you decide to specialize in fine jewelry?

My absolute love for the product, as well as the incredible people in our industry, made the decision for me. I spend my day looking at the most beautiful jewels, designed by passionate, inspiring people and work alongside creative individuals who love what they do. Most days, it doesn’t feel like a job.

After working for corporations and other companies, you have become a successful entrepreneur and own you own business. Any tips for our ladies in waiting considering this path?

Be prepared for the reality of being your own boss. While there are a lot of positives, such as setting your own hours, there is a TREMENDOUS amount of responsibility that comes with all of the freedom. I would not trade this experience for anything, but I also work harder today than I’ve ever worked before.

You live in LA. Give us your favorite romantic spots for a date night, a week-end getaway and a proposal.

For a date night, my fave spot is The Little Door on 3rd Street in West Hollywood. You enter the antiqued wooden door off of the bustling street and are immediately transported to a candlelit, Mediterranean inspired courtyard, complete with trees and Moroccan lanterns. The food is exquisite and the wine list is divine.

For a weekend getaway, just outside LA city limits, I love the Malibu Beach Inn. Located along the historic PCH, directly on the sand, you can view the most gorgeous sunsets while walking hand in hand along the ocean and fall asleep in the well-appointed guest rooms to the sound of the Pacific’s waves crashing on the shore. Heaven.

A perfect place to be asked the most important question of your life?? I would say the Griffith Park Observatory would set the scene for a memorable proposal. With panoramic views of the City of Angels, including the Hollywood sign, the proposal wouldn’t be the only thing to take a girl’s breath away.
