Write it Out: a sweet at-work proposal using signs.

Maurice wanted to propose to Chloe at work, so he found a creative way to involve all her coworkers in the process of doing it.

While Chloe was at work, Maurice was nearby working on preparing his proposal. He wrote out the signs, had the ring, and bought the flowers. Finally, he was ready. As he’s waiting in her workplace, the coworkers are slowly joining him and getting the signs they’re supposed to hold up. Then, it’s time.

The signs are numbered, and as they progress Chloe becomes aware of what’s really going on. How do we know? Well, she starts crying! I mean, how do you not cry if you’re being proposed to like this?

You really need to watch the whole video, but if you want to skip ahead Maurice appears around 3:00. However, you will miss all the sweetness and just see him on one knee. What’s the fun in that?

At work proposals can be tough. I think if your sweetie loves her job and the people she works with, then it’s definitely a way to go, but steer clear if she’s not happy there or has “frenemies”!

Mushy Birthday Proposal

Joshua decided that he would take Colleen by surprise, something that’s very hard to do. He decided he’d propose on the most unexpected day to her: his birthday.

Colleen had flown out for his birthday and they were going to dinner and having a wonderful time. While they were celebrating, one of Joshua’s friends called him up and told him they had permission to drink at the theatre (which Joshua performs at in Missouri) for his birthday, but when Colleen and Joshua got there it was pitch black.

At the edge of the stage was a laptop. Joshua was all, “That’s weird! What’s this?” Of course, when he pressed play, it was all for Colleen.

After a video of tons of people saying things to Colleen and giving them well-wishes, Joshua leads Colleen on to the stage (4:00) to a seat surrounded by rose petals, drops to one knee, and gives her a speech from his heart.

Talk about a tear-jerker! Joshua knew that Colleen didn’t want him to propose during a show or a big public display, she wanted an intimate moment… but he also knew he always wanted to do it on stage. He clearly found a way to make the proposal special according to the both of them, and not just for obvious reasons.

3 Food Proposal Ideas

Sometimes the best way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach. This does not just apply to guys. I am one of the people who falls into the “hangry” category when I go too long without being fed. Food can be my love language. My husband recently surprised me with a cupcake from a local bakery; we just moved, so it was the perfect surprise to make a rotten day any better. Needless to say, I don’t think food-related proposals are overrated.

Guys, take note: If your girl legitimately has a passion for food, as in she loves trying new places to eat or loves Chinese as much as she loves a new bakery, this is the way to go.

1. Say it with cake. Everything is better with cake. You have cake or cupcakes at every momentous occasion. Unless you’re one of the weird ones who actually doesn’t enjoy this dessert (or more importantly, she’s one of the weird ones), you can’t go wrong with a cupcake or cake proposal. I mean, think about it. You have cake on your birthday, your graduation days, your wedding day… any sort of celebration involves cake. One suggestion, though, is to not actually put the ring in the food. By that I mean, don’t put it where she can’t see it and may possible swallow it.

2. Tell her fortune. There are companies like My Lucky Fortune where you can actually order a fortune cookie with the message, “Will You Marry Me?” in it with a fake ring. When she opens the cookie, you can actually be kneeling with the real one. Or you can actual use any fortune cookie. Like most things, they are malleable when heated. Nuke that sucker for a few seconds until soft, unfold and stick your own fortune (and ring if you’re brave) in there, and then refold. Not impressed with my directions? Follow this link. This is a great way to propose if you want it low key at home, or even if you’re out at a nice Chinese place. Just swap the cookie they give you with the one you prepared.

3. Favorite food proposal. You don’t have to use pizza. You could do any sort of delivery, take-out, or home cooked meal you like. Doing it at home? Make a little piece of paper carefully tapes or glued to a toothpick in her entree. Burgers? Before you hand out the food, put a sticker on the wrapper of the burger, or even just put the ring in the bun (like with the cupcake).

 

Who’s going to say no when you’re giving her food and an engagement ring?

“Princess for a Year” Proposal

Kevin really played up his prank on April Fool’s Day. Yes, it was a real proposal, but he tricked Jenna a couple of times to start the proposal. First they were making a video for his summer internship, and then he told her he was entering her in Ellen’s “Princess for a Year” contest. Well, there is no such thing.

The beginning of the video is too funny. Jenna’s getting ready, asking if she looks fat (um, is she crazy?), and then they actually “start”. Well, Kevin starts with the surprise of the (fake) contest, and then goes on to share the best things about Jenna. He gushes over her beauty and her patiences, and then says he wants to spend the rest of his life with her (3:09) and quickly pulls a ring out from behind a pillow and drops in front of her. Too precious.

Proposing on April Fool’s Day definitely takes guts. In the end, Jenna definitely does a check-in to make sure he’s serious. Can you imagine if it had been an April Fool’s Day prank? I’m pretty sure I would have killed him.

Movie Trailer Proposal starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling

It’s not a new concept to make a movie trailer for a proposal. Theatres have been rented out, staged with family and friends, and trailers or movies have been presented by the proposer. This, however, was a new twist to me.

John really did up his proposal by creating a movie trailer. However, instead of employing friends and family to make a personal video, he took bits and pieces from other movies to make the trailer seem legitimate. I mean, who isn’t going to believe there’s another Nicholas Sparks movie coming out starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams?

Once Chealsea sees her name on the screen, we get little captions to let us know what she’s saying. It isn’t until 3:00 that John makes his entrance and proposes.

While watching the video, I was very intrigued by the trailer. There were moments that I could pick out what movies the scenes were from. If the movie theatre wasn’t full of friends and family, don’t you think someone in the audience would have been like, “What’s going on? That’s from The Time Traveler’s Wife, and that’s from The Notebook!” I guess it’s a good thing no one spoiled it before her name came on the screen.

Sports Proposals Trending

It’s no surprise that people who love sports end up making them a big part of their lives. Whether it’s decorating the family room in your team’s colors or making it a yearly tradition to go to this game or that, if you and your loved one enjoy sports you aren’t going to escape them. So why not make them part of your proposal?

Some guys like to go big. Take this couple. Dawn is on court trying to win some prizes and is offered a “mystery box” in exchange, which she picks.

Loe and behold there’s a RING under the box, and her boyfriend appears with a microphone and gets down on one knee.

What if she hadn’t picked the mystery box?

 

Another option is to seize the kiss cam moment. Of course, if you don’t end up on the kiss cam, then you can find another opportunity during the game. But what better time to propose in front of a crowd?

What do you think about sports proposals? Would you like it if your guy did this, or would you prefer something more intimate? While I love being able to go to baseball games with my hubs now, I’m not sure I would have liked being proposed to with all the on-lookers and pressure. I mean, he still would have gotten a yes, but I love our private proposal.

Up to Par: 3 Golf-Inspired Proposal Ideas

Spring and summer are rolling in and people who play golf will do just about anything to get out on the course. If you’re a couple who golfs together, what better place to propose than when you’re out doing what you do? Here are three ideas that are sure to get you a, “Yes!” from a girl who golfs.

1. Make it a bet. If you have friends you like to golf with, bring them along to make sure to catch the proposal on film. Make a bet of guys-verses-gals, or couple-verses-couple, or something like that. In the end, when your sweetie is demanding payment from whomever, say you don’t have the cash but get down on one knee and ask if the ring will do. If you win the bet, when she starts to pay up, tell her you don’t need the money, you just need a yes, then propose!

2. 18. Keep with the bring-some-friends-or-family-along plan like #1. Have a friend play first, and go ahead and put the ring in the cup on the 18. Whether you want your friends to wait to take pictures or just do the deed, make sure she finds what’s in the cup! The important thing here is to know how she plays. If she isn’t going to putt out, it doesn’t do much good to put the ring in the cup, does it?

3. Spell it out. If you don’t want to risk dropping the ring somewhere for her to find, why not use a special golf ball for the occasion? Cafe Press has the option for you to spell it out on a golf ball. Ask her to retrieve the ball for you from the cup only to discover what you’re about to ask her. When she looks up from reading the ball, you can be ready on one knee with the ring!

As long as you’re not beating her, I’d say you have a fair chance of her saying yes! This may just be my personal fault. If I was playing any game with my husband pre-marriage and he had been winning, I think he’d have the good enough sense not to propose until the game was over.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game: 5 Baseball Inspired Proposal Ideas

There’s nothing like going to a baseball game. Late spring and summer offer wonderful weather to go sit in the stands, enjoy some ballpark food, and watch the team play. Even if you’re not a huge baseball fan, you can go and carry on a conversation with others around you or, of course, who you came to the game with.

If baseball plays a big part in your romance, or it’s just something you and your sweetie love to do when the weather turns warm, here are a couple ideas to use the love of the game to propose.

 

1. Peanuts and Cracker Jacks. Plant a surprise for your sweetie to find in her baseball game snack. Whether it’s peanuts, cracker jacks, popcorn, or nachos, you can find a way to present her ring in a way that she won’t eat it and you’ll get a “YES!”

2. Root for the Home Team. If you’re somewhere with a local team, or in a great spot to attend a game, there’s no better atmosphere if it’s a place you love to go with your significant other. If you’re going to a local spot, I bet you can easily work your way into the agenda for the game and get your proposal over the loudspeaker or even get to propose on the field. If you’re just attending a game, you can still find a way to make it special.

3. Hey, Batter Batter. Whether it’s a foul ball or one you got to be signed by players, ask your girlfriend that question by writing it on the baseball. Maybe someone hits a foul ball in your direction and you don’t get it, but you take that moment to present her with a baseball of your own. “Couldn’t catch you that one, babe, but maybe this one will mean more.” See what I mean?

4. Home Run. The first home run of the game, get down on one knee and ask if she’ll spend the rest of her life with you hitting it out of the park… or some kind of cheesy baseball analogy. If this is your guys’ thing, she’ll eat it up.

5. Pitch It. Write in with your proposal idea and see if you or your girlfriend can be selected to pitch one of the first balls of the game. If she pitches, run out on to the field and propose to her afterwards. If you pitch, have someone in on it so they can lead her on to the field for the big moment. It will be a game you’ll never forget and always talk about.

If none of these work, you can always do what Kanye did and just rent out a stadium and propose with everyone looking on with a party waiting to celebrate. No pressure, right?

Lion King Inspired Proposal

The Lion King has always been my favorite Disney movie. It has something to do with the fact that my little sister was born that year, and something to do with it’s just an awesome movie.

At first I was going to pass this video by because, well, it seems everyone and their brother is planning a flash mob for a proposal. But something made me watch it, and I promise you’ll be glad you did, too.

Another confession: it made me cry. Ending a proposal with, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” was an excellent call on Jared’s part.

The video doesn’t just use The Lion King. There are “modern” songs in it, too, but when it started with “Circle of Life” and it ended with Jared emerging dressed as a lion… I mean… come, on!

Wouldn’t you know it, he has a mane without the lion hood, too! If you want to just see the end, skip ahead to 3:15. You have to watch Jared come through the dancers as a lion. It’s fantastic.

Not many men can get away with dressing as a lion and proposing, but Jared totally pulled it off. Sofie is one lucky lioness.

Funny Improv Proposal

There’s nothing like the day you propose. It can be all stress, all nerves, and if you have some elaborate plan there are so many things that go wrong.

That was encouraging, right? Well, I have a solution for you: humor.

Cole wanted a fun way to propose to Tristen. Being an actor himself, Cole invited Tristen out to an improv show. As they entered, it was pretty apparent something was going on. Tristen waved at all her friends in the audience, then came to recognize those on stage as well. When the director asked whose relationship should be improv, everyone said in unison, “Tristen and Cole!”

Hmm. I wonder what could be going on.

We are then privy to getting to see Tristen and Cole’s relationship unfold in a very unique style. I love how Cole planned this because not only did it involve friends and family, but there was humor to it. Sometimes all proposals seem to be mushy-gushy, and while there’s nothing wrong with that I think it can put some potential pressure on the moment.

Ok, bringing your girlfriend on stage to propose can put some pressure on it, too. But, come on. A girl who yells and a guy who laughs because he’s so happy– they were made for each other.

Skip ahead to around 5:00 if you want to get to the “good stuff”. This is when a guy impersonates Tristen’s dad and Cole asking for his permission to marry his daughter.
