Kite-Flying Proposal Ideas

Spring is in the air and on windy days there’s nothing better than getting out and letting your inner-child fly. And by that I mean fly a kite, of course. So how do you turn this magical experience into an even more romantic one and tie a proposal into it? Here are three ideas!

1. Write it in the Sky. Ask your girl to meet you at a specific spot to have a fun spring day. Plan a picnic, but get the kite in the air before she gets there. On the kite have the words, “Marry Me?” written clearly across it, flying in the sky. When she arrives, and realizes you’re the one holding the kite, there’s no way she’ll be able to say no. Just make sure to weigh it down and not let go of that keepsake in the midst of the excitement!

2. Weigh it down. Tie a dummy-ring to the tail of the kite, giving it the weight it needs to balance. When you ask her to run with the kite, she’ll see that ring and pause. That’s you’re moment to get down on one knee with the real ring and pop the question.

3. Waving Words. Tie ribbons to the kite string with loving words, stories, memories, pictures– whatever you can think of–and have them waving in the sky when she arrives. You can then let her take hold of the kite and reel it in, looking at the wonderful creation you’ve put together. When she gets to the actual kite, maybe have your proposal written on it in some way that wasn’t so obvious from the sky!

As always, make this fun. Don’t be stressed if something goes wrong. It all makes for a grand story!
