Classic, non-cliche, Proposal Ideas

There is something to be said about proposing “the old-fashioned way”. While many women want the flash and lights of a flash mob, or big party, or whatever may be your style– there are those who prefer the quieter, simple way that may be thought of as classic. So how do you propose as they did in the good ‘ole days without seeming a bit cliche? Here are three ideas!

1. Getting down on one knee. Personally, I think this should be done no matter how you propose, but perhaps this is all you have planned. Get a speech prepared, a scenic area, and leave the rest up to you, the ring, and your position. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with just wanting a quiet moment with the two of you and dropping to one knee without the flashing lights. How is this not cliche? Well, you’re not making a BIG dramatic gesture out of dropping to one knee, you’re just doing it.

2. Ring in Champagne. Instead of putting the ring actually in the champagne, have the waiter tie it to the glass, or perhaps serve it on the plate with her dessert with the champagne. There are plenty of ways to do this without worrying that she’s going to swallow that investment, and personally I love this type of proposal. Whether it’s at a gathering with friends or a private date, this is an excellent way to propose without too much “fuss”.

3. At Sunset. Whether you’re walking on the beach or just taking a stroll in the park, there’s nothing more romantic than a proposal at sunset. If you want to mix it up, you can wake her up extra early and go see the sunrise from a picturesque location, but if she’s not a morning person I wouldn’t do that. Just make sure if you do propose this way, still take the extra step and make sure you have a photographer somewhere waiting for the big moment.
