Oh Teacher, My Teacher.

There’s nothing like proposing to a teacher during the school year. A time when she does the job (she hopefully loves) and is molding young minds. What’s even better is when you can get the students in on the proposal.

1. Early Childhood. If your significant other teaches little ones, getting them in on the proposal may be a bit difficult. So, make it simple. Give each child a paper flower to give to the teacher, or even have the principal or fellow teacher to do it “just as a surprise”– but don’t tell them anything more. If you want to have them hold up signs, I would shoot for second grade and older– and even then make sure you act fast, because it’s hard for them to keep a secret!

2. Senior Year. High schoolers may be easier to get in on the surprise. Whether it’s giving their teacher a hard time in class one day or having one of their projects turn into a slide-show of your relationship, they’ll definitely be keen on lending a helping hand. Besides, it gives them something to consider when thinking of their own proposals in the future!

3. Say Yes, Professor. A college professor may require some work, but not in the worst way. Whether it’s commandeering the quad or her classroom, it will be easy to draw a crowd with whatever you plan. If you want her students in on it, make sure that you invite all of them to participate and not just one class– you don’t want others feeling left out! Depending on what she teaches, use the subject to your advantage and pick a lesson planned day that you can easily intrude on with your very own surprise.

As always, be prepared to be adored– and not just by your fiance! Doing anything at your significant other’s work will end in applause and “awww”.
