You’ve been wearing your engagement ring WRONG!

Don’t worry. It’s not really that wrong. But did you know that engagement rings were traditionally worn on the middle finger?

Nope. I’m not kidding. There are  (or at least were way back when) some people who flip the bird with their sparkly engagement ring (that really shows them, eh?).

It actually used to have religious significance in the Medieval Period as the groom would slide the ring up and over each finger as he said, “In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.” As he said each entity, he would move it on a different finger, leaving the ring on the middle finger at the end.

However, in North America and in the United Kingdom, the ring finger became customary for marriage and engagements because it was believed the vein in that particular finger led straight to the heart– therefore allowing the commitment band to be in direct contact with your ability to love.

Interest, eh? Of course, as the bride, you can wear your engagement ring anyway you like.

But would you wear it on your middle finger?
