You would think scoring tickets to the taping of Oprah’s celebrity-packed final show is lucky enough, but not for this Canadian couple. Couple Alex Babinsky and Jenna Steinsvik were already ecstatic about seeing Oprah, but Alex saw it as an opportunity to finally ask Jenna to marry him.

“I knew [the proposal] had to be big,” Alex told Global Winnipeg. “When the Oprah show came up, that’s, I think, that’s as high as the bar can go.”

He immediately started calling writers and producers on the show. They all said the same thing: The show was jam-packed, full of celebrities and surprises, and the chances of him popping the question was slim. But eventually they gave in. On the taping of Oprah’s final show, Alex got on stage and proposed to Jenna in front of thousands of cheering people.

“He got on one knee and pulled out the ring and it said on the sign, ‘Will you marry me, Jenna?’” Jenna recalled.

Oprah’s final show will air on May 25.
