6 Wedding Trends That Have Gone Out of Style

bridal-partyDid you know the tradition of throwing confetti at a wedding is starting to phase out? As is the old tradition of wearing “something old, something new and something blue.” According to a new survey, a lot of wedding traditions that were popular in the ’60s are starting to die out in today’s modern world.

Some dying traditions include:

-The father paying for the wedding
-Bride’s father being asked for his permission
-Bride changing into ‘going away suit’
-‘Just Married’ on car
-Going on immediate honeymoon
-Carrying partner over the threshold

Some traditions that have actually grown since the ’60s include:

-Best man speeches
-First dance
-Signing the guest book
-Favors for guests
-Bouquet of flowers for mother and mother in law
-Bridal party photos
-Getting on one knee to propose

An article in The Daily Mail explained why some traditions have gone out of fashion. Today, with weddings being so extravagant, most fathers can’t foot the bill (or at least not the entire bill). Other dying traditions like writing “just married” on a limousine was deemed “messy,” while the old “something old, something new, blue” tradition was deemed “impractical.”

I’m surprised to see getting on one knee has rose. It seems like such a tradition; I can’t imagine it being used less back then. I’m also surprised by the “Just Married” on car and not immediately going on honeymoons after the wedding.
