Lemondrop has a bone to pick with public proposals…again. Blogger Carrie Sloan uses examples of recent crash-and-burn public proposals to illustrate why public proposals are a bad idea. She uses the example of a recent proposal that took place over the radio. The hopeless romantic thought his girlfriend of three months would be thrilled when he called her at her office and proceeded to propose over the radio. Needless to say, but he was completely shot down. Sloan argues that public proposals are not only rude, but terribly unromantic.
But no matter whom you fall head over heels for, we guarantee she never wanted a proposal involving the Seafood Lover’s Special, your snot-nosed cousins, or some screwball morning DJ.
The topic of public proposals is something we have tackled in the past. The rule of thumb is to only propose in public if your girlfriend is the type of person who likes to be the center of attention or is one of those girlfriends that get jealous when she sees someone being proposed to on the Jumbotron.
The decision if whether or not a public proposal is right for you is dependent on her personality, whether you two have discussed marriage before, and if the two of you are already on the same page about your future together. Public proposals usually work best when the girlfriend is already semi-expecting it. What do you think of public proposals?

I don’t see anything wrong with public proposals. I mean, if my guy took me someplace romantic with just the two of us, I would know right away that he was planning to propose or something. A public proposal makes the proposal more surprsing.
