Day 3: Amid the Craziness
Awards show craziness really starts to kick in today and there’s a full day of back to back appointments scheduled. Appointments are fluid here in Hollywood, meaning that it’s nothing for them to be changes several times and a start time is often merely a place-holder.

I’ve already received a call today that the pieces that went out for Steve Carell and his wife won’t work and that his stylist will need a new appointment today to rework pieces.  I attended a party last night by Vanity Fair where I spent time with Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Rich Sommers and others who may be able to stop by.

So overall they day is already looking barely manageable at this point. I start at 9 so everything needs to be set up. At 9:15, I realize that Kathryn Joosten is late for her appointment and the phone calls start. Is she will coming? Will she be late? Does she need to change? Voice mails left. Now it’s 9:30 and Niecy Nash hasn’t come to pick up her pieces on hold. The calls begin to her. At 10 my 3 pm appointment shows up because the fitting was this morning and only 2 blocks away so it didn’t make sense to not come early. My 10:30 appointment with Leslie Baker from The Office is now going to be later and he may try to coordinate with Phyllis Smith (also from The Office).

Fun before The Emmys

Michael and Marison Nicols having some fun

By noon, everything that had been written down in the schedule has been thrown out the window since nobody is going to stick to a time. There’s too much going on in Hollywood today.  And so the schedule goes by the wayside and we concentrate on whatever is coming along. In a weird way that’s part of the fun though. The Emmy’s are for television, and as a result many of the same people are nominated over the years. It becomes a case of seeing familiar faces and old friends and having some fun along the way.

Some things to watch out for will be the trend toward larger earrings. I’ve lent out amazing colored gemstones to go with the great colors in fashion and to spice up the black gowns. Larger statement pieces have definitely been the way to go. Also, keep a watch on the men. They’re not going to be outdone this year by the woman.

The Craziness doesn’t stop today though. There are the last minute appointments tomorrow and even Sunday morning. Red Carpet emergencies! Only the red carpet will reveal the true story when the celebrities step out and show us what they finally decided upon.
