Sean Murtagh and Natalie Mea spent their wedding stranded at a Middle Eastern airport. The couple, who were planning to exchange their nuptials in London, were one of hundreds of Europeans stuck at airports due to ash from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano keeping planes on the ground.
But some little ol’ volcano ash wasn’t keeping this couple from getting married. They went along with their wedding as planned and broadcast it all via Skype. The groom borrowed a suit while the bride put on the best dress she packed. Cake, flowers and balloons were donated by the hotel, and a laptop webcam broadcasted the nuptials to all their friends and family.
“It’s spellbinding the amount they have done for us,” Sean said. “It’s been an incredible day. We were never going to forget it anyway but we certainly won’t forget it now.”
