Couple Broadcasts Wedding via Twitter

twitterTechnology and weddings have been coming together recently in interesting ways. From couples updating their Facebook relationship statuses at the altar, to proposals via Twitter, it seems weddings are veering off into a whole new territory.

Meet Stephanie and Greg. They were one of the first couples to get engaged over Twitter. Greg announced his proposal to Stephanie over Twitter two years ago. So the couple thought it was appropriate to also broadcast their whole wedding via Twitter.

The hashtag #tweetwed swept across Twitter last week as everyone tracked Stephanie and Greg’s tweets, which described their wedding ceremony as it happened. But if you thought Stephanie and Greg were standing at the altar as they played around with their iPhones, think again. They entrusted that job to their children who were more than happy to tweet the wedding to their excited followers.

The couple said they chose to do this because they wanted to do it “in front of the world.” Just don’t expect them to tweet their honeymoon. That’s off limits.
