It’s a Man’s World

IMG00066It has been actually harder than we thought to find room in our schedule to post on our blog every day. So many jewelers to see; so little time!!! So little wireless connections. We are just back from two early evening events; the Levian Red Carpet Revue (more to come about this tomorrow) and the new Pandora store opening at Caesar’s Palace. Today we decided to focus the blog on a major trend: Men’s jewelry and all the fun stories those romantic male jewelers told us. Yes! And we have hours of footage to prove it. Men are indeed suckers for romance when they have the right motivation…

Forget about the classic band, the selection available for male wedding bands on the market is pretty amazing. Three basic new trends:

For the fashion forward groom, Diamonds and Platinum.IMG00068Even edgier, black diamonds.

For the stylish guy, texture. Some men are still shy about wearing diamonds but want a unique piece when it comes to their band. They want to feel like they are getting an interesting art piece with details. So from inlays like we saw at Gravure, to mokume gane like George Sawyer, male bands come with many intricate details and metal combinations.

For the alpha male, try titanium, tungsten and ceramic like with Wright & Lato and Dora Rings.

Men are not only superficial beings just interested in jewelry (LOL). We asked lots of male jewelers about tips on how to propose romantically and choose an engagement ring. Many diverse opinions! Some root for 100 percent surprise (easy, they are jewelers) though we loved that Mark Schneider presented his wife Nancy with three diamonds to pick from so he could create a unique setting for her. Others suggested to get siblings involved. However, it is mostly the jewelry retailer who can, through some well thoughts and questions, determine with the soon-to-be-engaged man what would work better for his fiancée. When it comes to romance , Shant from Danhov takes our first price with a romantic proposal on the beach with a sand written message….

    Hi,
What’s the best way to submit a diamond and engagement ring store for you to review?

Our site sells diamonds with excellent value as well as a large selection of pave engagement ring mountings. We are interested in learning from your experts on what styles of rings are in the highest demand as well as the engagement ring services that are most useful to your audience.

    Warm regards,

When I married my husband 14 years ago, we both agreed, since I get diamonds, so does he. And, NO, he doesn’t have just a little bling, many people have commented on how nice his ring is. It shouldn’t have to be a trend, but a reality!

I am from New York City, and my fiance and I both checked out wedding bands at Michael C. Fina on Fifth Avenue. They have a HUGE selection of engagement rings (my fiance purchased mine there), and we decided to go back there to see what they had for wedding bands. Great choices for both the bride and the groom! We haven’t finalized anything yet, but we definitely going to get them at Michael C. Fina. We are also checking out their registry process. Some of our friends have used it in the past, and they all loved everything they got. Can’t wait to get started!

I recently had the most incredible experience choosing a wedding ring for myself. After weighing many options I just fell in love with the designs of Etienne Perret, a fine jewelry designer from Maine, specializing in bridal jewelry featuring colored diamonds set in 18kt gold, platinum and Zirconia Ceramic.

In the end, we splurged and chose an incredibly stylish and masculine 8mm platinum band fully encircled with a row of channel set black diamonds. The design is called the “Michael” man’s ring and it’s everything I could ask for in a wedding band–Solid, stylish and sparkling!

There were so many other options from Etienne’s collection that I would have been more than happy with, including white gold designs with black or cognac colored diamonds and a sleek new collection of Zirconia Ceramic rings, with or without inlaid precious metals and colored diamonds.

If money had been an issue I’m sure I would have chosen one of Etienne’s Ceramic designs, many of which I found truly stunning. They are much cheaper than traditional gold or platinum rings and equally, if not more durable!

My favorite for a man was an 8mm black ceramic band starlight set with white diamonds inlaid in yellow gold, and for women, a similar 6mm black ceramic ring set with colored diamonds was to die for.

Other neat designs included black or white ceramic rings with a wide stripe or even polka dots of inlaid 18kt gold or platinum! Too much fun!

My wife also fell in love with Etienne’s designs and ending up selecting her engagement and wedding ring from his bridal collection. Her engagement ring was platinum “Nadia,” set with brilliant Pink color treated natural diamonds and a matching 3.5mm platinum Pink diamond “Channel” wedding band!

I can’t praise the Men’s (and Women’s) wedding ring designs by Etienne Perret enough. He was also a charm to work with, corresponding with my wife a I personally by phone and email to custom design our rings down to the last perfect detail!
